🧈 Vegan Cinnamon Butter
Texas Roadhouse is probably the farthest thing from anything vegan-related... but everyone deserves to taste their cinnamon butter.
Spread on the restaurant's soft dinner rolls, the butter is fluffy, rich, mildly sweet, and absolutely delicious. Its cult following even warranted the launch of a new candle!
Luckily, it's very easy to make your own at home! Just go with a plant-based butter that suits your dietary restrictions.
Serve the vegan cinnamon butter alongside unfilled rolls or milk bread and create your own feast at home!
🍞 Ingredients
All you need are a few simple ingredients:
- Powdered Sugar (aka Confectioner's Sugar): Even though the restaurant calls their butter spread "honey-cinnamon"—most of the sweetness comes from the sugar.
- Cinnamon: Such a simple ingredient, but the warmth from the spice is what makes this recipe stand out!
- Vegan Butter: I used Earth Balance salted butter sticks. Miyoko's makes a more gourmet, cultured vegan butter. Whichever butter alternative you use, just bring it to room temperature (don't melt it) to make the spread.
- (Optional) Vegan Honey, Light Molasses, or Golden Syrup (Light Treacle): Using vegan "honey" doesn't change the taste too much, but improves the texture. Many grocery stores sell vegan honey nowadays, which is flavored golden syrup.
🥣 Instructions
Combine the cinnamon and powdered sugar together, then mix in the softened vegan butter and the optional "honey".
Simple as that!
You may save the buttery spread in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Bring it down to room temperature before use to make quenelles, or refrigerate it in different shapes.
❓ Vegan Butter FAQs
My favorite plant-based kinds of butter for spreading are made by Miyoko's, Country Crock, and Kite Hill. For baking, I use Earth Balance salted butter sticks.
Most margarine is vegan, but some manufacturers add lactose, whey, or casein to their products—making them no longer vegan-friendly. Always check the food labels to make sure.
In the U.S., margarine must be at least 80 percent fat and can include dairy. Vegan butter is basically margarine with absolutely no dairy.
This depends on the brand, but there are no major nutritional differences between vegan butter and margarine in general.
Vegan butter does not contain cholesterol and is usually lower in trans fats; therefore vegan butter is considered marginally healthier than dairy-based butter.
However, plant-based butter is still very high in saturated fat—that's why it is solid at room temperature.
It depends on the brand of vegan butter, but generally, plant-based butter is recommended to be refrigerated.

Never thought I'd see vegan and Texas Roadhouse in the same sentence. Made this with Country Crock butter for breakfast. Thanks Gonul.
