Time to level up our morning (vegan) butter toast with vegan spreads and dips!
Here I'm sharing my favorite vegan spreads that are full of flavor: acuka (Turkish pepper and walnut spread), clotted cream (two ways!), labneh, tahini & molasses (pb & j who?), and of course, Nutella.
Find all recipes in video form here:
These are great for breakfast or for a snack. Feel free to substitute the bread with rice crackers or any other vehicle you see fit; yes, a spoon does count—especially for the Nutella. Afiyet olsun (bon appétit)!
1. Turkish Red Pepper & Walnut Spread (Acuka)
If I could introduce only one staple from Turkish cuisine to the western world, it would be pepper paste. You can add it to dishes as you would tomato sauce, you can spread it on toast as is, or you can make it the superstar ingredient of an appetizer as I did here. Possibilities are only as limited as your affinity for savory food. Let’s make some acuka (pronounced ah-jew-kaw): a Mediterranean / Middle Eastern variation of red pepper and walnut spread.
2. Vegan Clotted Cream

3. Vegan Labneh
Making vegan labneh with soy yogurt is easy and simple. This Middle Eastern treasure can spice up your cheese boards and can be enjoyed as a quick snack with toast or rice cakes.
4. Tahini & Molasses (Turkish PB & J)
